All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has agreed to investigate a dispute between national football team head coach Abdullah Almutari and 10 players. Now the dispute between the coach and the player has reached the Football Players Association.
During the training session at the Dashrath Stadium last week, a dispute over whether to stay in the players’ hostel or hotel had created a rift in the football team.
Ten players were protesting against the coach for removing him from the team without any reason, while coach Almutari urged them not to act even if the players left without his permission.
The players had met Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj and National Sports Council (NSC) member secretary Tankalal Ghising on Monday and demanded an impartial inquiry after the ANFA did not take any initiative to resolve the issue.
The ANFA leadership, which did not communicate for a week, not only held discussions with the players on Tuesday evening but also promised to form an inquiry committee by Wednesday.
ANFA President Karma Chhiring Sherpa has said that an inquiry committee will be formed on Wednesday. He said that after the investigation report comes, it will be decided whether the players will return to the training of the national team or not.
