Highest number of corona cases registered in a day in Nepal, 12,300 people infected

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Kovid has been confirmed in more than 12,300 people in Nepal. This is the highest number of infected in Nepal since the start of the pandemic.

Four people have died due to corona virus infection in the last 24 hours. With the current increase, the number of active infected across the country has crossed 57,000.

Experts say that the number of people infected with Omicron may increase this time because the previous wave spread due to the delta variant. But the government has not released separate figures for Omicron.

Kathmandu becomes Corona’s hotspot

More than half of the active infected people in the country are in the Kathmandu Valley. According to reports the most infected people are being found in three districts Kathmandu Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.

In a press conference organized by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, Divisional Head Dr. Krishna Poudel had said that from the third week of January, the infection rate would gradually stabilize.

Government decided to reduce cost of testing

The government of Nepal has decided to reduce the cost of testing for COVID-19 by RT-PCR method.

The government has arranged that people with symptoms will be tested free of cost in government laboratories, but those without symptoms will have to pay a maximum fee of Rs 800.

But earlier a private lab used to charge Rs 2,000 for RT-PCR testing, but now it has been reduced to a maximum of Rs 1,500.
