The ruling coalition agreed to reduce the prices of petroleum products

In the meeting of the ruling coalition held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluvatar, it has been agreed to reduce the prices of petroleum products.

Coordinator of the alliance and senior leader of Nepali Congress Ramchandra Poudel told that today an agreement has been reached to reduce the tax on petroleum products by convening a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

He said, “In today’s cabinet meeting, a decision will be taken on how to reduce the price of petroleum products, tighten market surveillance and make ration available to consumers at cheap prices.”

He told that the government will implement it by reducing the tax on petroleum products from today. If the decision is implemented, the price of diesel and petrol will be reduced by Rs 25 to 30 per litre.

Nepal Oil Corporation had last increased the price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 27 and petrol by Rs 21 per liter. At present, petrol is trading at Rs 199 per liter and diesel/kerosene at Rs 192 per litre.
